What Music Means to Me

Image
4/6/22  In my last few posts, I have talked about how technology has changed, how music has changed over the years, and its connection to people, and I haven't really talked about many personal experiences and my connection to music so this one will be more about me and how I feel. I started to get into music sometime in middle school and I remember, I wasn't super into it and I really only liked maybe 10 songs. As time went on I discovered rock bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters. After I found them, rock quickly became my favorite genre. A year or 2 later, I found other bands like Rush and Green Day. I also started listening to some rap here and there.  Up until about my senior year of high school, I didn't really process music a whole lot and the powerful messages songs had. I kind of just listened to it. Later on, that year when covid started getting really bad I bought a guitar because I wanted to learn how to play. Once I started looking up my favorite songs...

Music's Connection With People

Image
Music has always connected with people in many ways and as new genres pop up and different things become popular, I believe this connection grows larger and larger. Comparing back then to now, I think there are definitely more people that are connected to music. Music opens up so many doors and can help shape who you are as a person and because of the constantly evolving music industry, it brings in more and more people every day. Music can bring out so many emotions that you've never felt before. When you feel these your connection to music grows and it creates special memories that you will remember forever. A good example would be someone's first concert. The power you feel from the instruments is like nothing else and hearing your favorite songs live is an amazing experience. Music really is special and will continue to change and affect people's lives in so many ways.

How Technology has Changed Music

Connor Scheil Blog 2 2/28/22   In my last post, I talked about how music has changed over the years, and in the end, I started to get into how technology is one of the big main reasons music has changed so much. In this post, I will be talking about that more. Like I said in the last post,    It can open a lot of doors to so many new sounds and effects that were never available in the past. One thing that is being done now that could have never been done in the past is sample manipulations. Because of technology, this has become very popular in modern music. It is basically taking a sample and manipulating it into something brand new and something that no one has ever heard before. Another thing that is pretty popular because of technology is the use of digital effects and digital amps for guitars and other instruments. For these, you basically plug your guitar or other instruments into your computer and you immediately have access to thousands of amps and pedals to ...

My Thoughts on How Music Has Changed Over the Years.

Image
Connor Scheil Blog 1 2/11/22  Over the years music has changed a lot. I believe that this can be seen as a good thing and also a bad  thing. In the past, I feel like the genres were more separate than how they are today. Today I feel like they  are just all blended together in most songs with some exceptions here and there. In my personal opinion, I  don't feel like modern music is as powerful as the music produced before the 2000s. Yes, there are some  that can be lyrically powerful and can definitely have an impact, but comparing these songs to the songs  produced 20+ years ago, I feel like the guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, etc, just make the songs even  more  powerful and emotional. It also just shows how much time went into producing these songs. I'm not  saying people don't take time and really try to produce quality music now, but it is definitely a lot easier  now compared to back then. Technology has for sure played a big role...
